bike-webTransport and independence is of paramount importance to young people today. The ability to ride a bicycle on one, two or three wheels is learnt at an early age by most children. However, the skills needed to keep a bike in good working order are not always acquired, which can lead to a loss of independence and contribute to various weight and health issues.

Our bike project is a simple 6-week two-hour programme of building a mountain bike from scratch with one of our mentors here at the D6 Unit, learning all thoughts little tricks and tweaks that keep the bike in a roadworthy condition. By the end of building the bike, the young person can then take it out for a spin at either one of two sites, depending on their ability and nerve!

The Project is in-house certificated at successfully reaching the end of the course.

Costs: £80.00 per session for ongoing build and ride plan.

Pupil collection and return is included in the price depending on distance from the unit. Pupil’s wishing to attend the course outside of the Bournemouth area may have to make extra arrangements to the attend course.
